Red Nose Day this Friday, by Mrs Moxham

Date: 13th Mar 2019 @ 5:32pm

There are a growing number of schools in the Country contacting parents and carers and suggesting that they do not buy ‘Red Noses’ to support the Charity Event this coming Friday due to the high focus on plastic pollution. With Sir David Attenborough raising awareness of the environmental impact of plastic pollution through his BBC Blue Planet programme, some may feel that the noses are another form of unnecessary plastic that will probably end up in landfill. We would still wish to support this great charity but are happy to suggest that if you too feel this is important, your child could bring a donation into school that will go 100% to the charity, and either paint their own nose before coming into school or at lunch time, we could paint their nose red using face paints. It is NOT a non uniform day this week- it is still full school uniform.

Online safety - update from national concerns, by Mrs Moxham

Date: 28th Feb 2019 @ 12:01pm

Dear Parents,

It has come to our attention through the Press of some worrying developments in the 'online' world in relation to a 'Momo Challenge'. It has been reported that some seemingly innocent videos on Fortnite, YouTube and YouTube Kids (such as ‘surprise eggs’ and Minecraft videos) have been edited by unknown sources to include violence provoking and/or other inappropriate content including this 'MOMO Challenge'.

One of the videos apparently starts innocently like the start of a Peppa Pig episode and turns quickly into an altered version with violence and offensive language.

As you can image, this is highly distressing for the children to view and encourage you to be vigilant when your child is using any device or watching any clips. We would encourage all parents to remind their children that if it upsets them, switch off the screen and tell and adult. For older children, it may be beneficial to discuss the challenge and it's dangers with them to provide them with a full understanding of why some things online are not what they seem.

We are continually teaching children of online safety within school but would like to work together with you to keep keep our children safe.

A poster is attached to online safety area of our website.

If you have any questions or are concerned regarding this or any other online safety incidents, please don't hesitate to contact us. It is important we know what is out there and accessible for our children.

A great website for you to look at is

Red Admiral Youth Band- congratulations 2nd place, by Mrs Moxham

Date: 29th Oct 2018 @ 9:46pm

At weekend, Red Admiral Music Academy took part in Brass Factor Youth. It is a competition done in the style of X-Factor where each band performs in front of a panel of judges. The judges all give feedback and score each performance to decide on the winner. It is an entertainment contest so the performance is judged on how entertaining it is, in addition to how good the music playing is.  The audience also get to vote for their favourite performance as a separate prize.

We took our Youth Band which comprised of players aged between 8 and 18 and they performed a fantastic Space Themed performance. We wanted to let you know as one of more of your pupils were part of the band. They all did an amazing job and won the Audience Prize and came second in the overall contest.

The performance is on You Tube if you would like to see it https://youtu.be/6yqsOEQWfEc
