Understanding Judaism

Date: 22nd Jan 2018 @ 12:34pm

Today as part of Faith Week, we have reflected on the visit from Mr Bloom who visited us last week and talked about his Jewish faith. We discussed the importance of prayer and how Jewish people pray in a Synagogue but also at home and have Mezuzahs in each doorway of their homes.

We listened to a traditional Jewish story called 'The house with no room' which teaches Jewish people to be thankful for what they do have. We looked at the purpose of the 'tallit' a prayer shawl Jews use to help them pray as it is meant to represent a small tent. We created our own tabernacles (shelters) so we could take time to reflect on what we are thankful for. Our prayer shawl images, show our appreciation of what we have.
