Class 4 remember with the Bretherton community

Date: 10th Nov 2020 @ 8:29am

In class we have discussed the  significance of the poppy as a symbol of remembrance,

red poppies are a universal symbol of remembrance,

black poppies represent the sacrifice of black, African and Caribbean people,

purple poppies represent animals victims of war white poppies commemorate those who died and also promote peace'

In Bretherton when we walked to the War Memorial we noticed rainbow poppies: a way of remembering the lives lost due to the Covid Pandemic, the many lives that have been lost from the community and the health service. The rainbow which represents hope has become a symbol of support for all health workers and carers in the pandemic.

It felt good walking through Bretherton and being part of remembering together.
