Class 3 online safety chat

The children were surprised to find out that Fortnight game was a legal age of 14. Many of the games were over their age. Maria Featherstone spoke to them about parental control and some children didn’t know if their devices were protected this way.

She spoke to them about only playing only with people who are known in real life. The children were very knowledgeable about unusual friend request. A large proportion of the class have had strangers approach them online to try and play. So they all agreed that they wouldn’t believe who was contacting them and definitely not accept them.

Never give details about ourselves- eg name , address, bank details,

They discussed online banking - eg Go Henry and ensured that they never give details out.

Online bullying is one of the biggest challenges. Reminder if bullied- please talk to others.

Tilly knew to look for the padlock on sites.

Alexa and other similar devices are there to help in emergencies.

all children were invited to go home and chat with their families about their own situation and I explained how important it is that children are honest about their use, concerns and experiences.
