Class 1 & 2 walk to St John’s Church.

Class 1 & 2 enjoyed a pleasurable walk to St John’s Church today. 

Mrs Williams revealed the fascinating history of the church building and the church clock.

The Church was built in 1840 and the clock was added in 1990 to celebrate the 150 year anniversary. Mrs Ashcroft was present at the celebration ceremony too! 

Inside, the children learnt about events and ceremonies that take place in church together with the surroundings. 

We also admired the beautiful stained glass windows, the pulpit, the font, the war memorial and the altar. 

Miss Hymers discussed the imagery present in church and instructed the children to memorise an item to draw on our return to school.
