WI Bretherton treasure hunt, by Mrs Moxham

Date: 29th Oct 2020 @ 8:25pm

There will be a treasure hunt trail around the village available during half term week for the children to do for fun.  Parents can collect a map and list of clues from outside 60 South Road, and then follow it round in their own time.  There will be a box for completed entries and a little treat bag back at the same address at the end.

We are also encouraging our members to put an autumn display in their gardens or windows, which could be pumpkins, leaf pictures, flowers, anything really, just to brighten up the village.

Announcement about childcare in Lancashire Lockdown, by Mrs Moxham

Date: 22nd Sep 2020 @ 10:11am

Some updates to the position of childcare in relation to the Lancashire restrictions are as follows:

  • Informal carers will be able to provide care for children and vulnerable adults in parts of the country with restrictions on interhousehold mixing
  • Children under 14 will be able to be cared for by individuals outside of their immediate household as part of a care bubble
  • Arrangements must be part of a consistent childcare relationship
  •
  •

From Tuesday 22 September care bubbles will be able to form in areas of intervention, to allow families to share caring responsibilities with another household.

The introduction of care bubbles will allow informal childcare arrangements to continue with another household, as long as they are consistent. One-off arrangements, such as a play date, though will not be included…

Key worker guidance, by Mrs Moxham

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

If you cannot safely look after your child/ren due to being employed as a keyworker, please complete the form on the education at home - letters to parents page or telephone school.

Apologies for any additional stress this has caused- we are operating in ever difficult times and guidance from the Government changes daily.

welcoming you in the morning, by Mrs Moxham

Date: 18th Mar 2020 @ 9:46am

Good morning,

From today, the children will be able to come straight into school at 8.45 in the morning to avoid gatherings on the playground and would encourage parents and adults collecting children to take additional precautions of spacial distancing at this moment in time. Children will continue to come in their usual doors and wash their hands on entry to continue our hygiene measures.

If your child attends the hub, we will collect them from the door without the need for adults in school unnecessarily and on collection will return them to the door. Please just ring the bell as usual.  If you have any questions , please contact school or Kelly on the Hub phone.

Thank you for understanding and supporting the measures that we are putting in place.

Health update, by Mrs Moxham

Date: 17th Mar 2020 @ 9:55am

Good morning,

I thought it may be prudent to add information to the news page of the website as things change in relation to Government advice.

In accordance with the advice yesterday, we have noticed that some of our families have chosen to self isolate their whole families as a precaution based on a family member showing even mild symptoms. This is a decision for you to make on the advice from the Government and we respect that. It is important that we acknowledge that this will happen and not overly worry or see this as an indicator of increased cases within our community. The guidance is clear but ever changing so please review on the Government website regularly https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance

For those children in this position, I have set up a new page on the website with links to learning for each class. This can be found under Education at home' tab

If your child is off as they are displaying symptoms, they are ill and so there is no expectation of work, however if they would like to complete any of the activities or learning, we would be happy for them to share this with us on their return.

We would be grateful if you could keep us fully informed via email Head@bretherton.lancs.sch.uk or bursar@bretherton.lancs.sch.uk or call on 01772 600431 so we can continue to assess the risk and make plans for our school.

If you have any concerns , please contact school as we are here to help and support our families at this time.

The results are in - our children achieved over 275 000 steps in our Les Mills circuit session and this means we have completed over 4 marathons! What a great achievement.

Thank you to all children and staff taking part and for gathering sponsors for the event. If you have been able to gain sponsorship, please can you return the form and money to the schol office by the start of next week.

We are incredibly grateful for your support and soon the children will be eating and enjoying lunchtimes altogether.
