Thank you parents for sharing information about your careers with class 4.

Today class 4 welcomed Mr Gibbons a land surveyor and geomatician who works for Leica. We found out how our recent work in maths on coordinates, scale, angles, measurement, triangles and algebra are used in the workplace to calculate the position of objects and to create maps. The children had a hands on opportunity and were able to see technical machines in action- 😮! Thank you Mr Gibbons for such a fascinating insight into the world of geomatics.
Many thanks to Mr Greenhalgh too, for exploring ideas with the class about how to make money. We were treated to an overview of what it means to be enterprising, class 4 were buzzing with ideas and we look forward to welcoming Mr Greenhalgh back later in the week to discuss the practicalities.
Thank you Mr and Mrs Crawford from Seddon Consruction for your very comprehensive overview of the construction business from concept, design, measuring material, sourcing material, consruction on site, segregating waste to finished building and end use. Children found out about many careers and pathways linked to constuction and were inspired by the many different options a career in construction can lead to and how it can suit everyone’s skills at the same time there are opportunities for travel and work abroad. Many thanks for giving up your time and for leading such a worthwhile session with year 6.
