Class 2 investigate soil

Date: 23rd Nov 2021 @ 3:30pm

Today, we have continued our Geography and Science learning by investigating soil. We learnt all about the different soils we could find in our school grounds, e.g sandy, silty or clay, and how to determine which is which.
First, we dug a hole around 10cm deep then we took some soil, wet it and investigated if it would crumble, roll into a ball and squash.
We tested the soil in the forest area and at the back of the school field. Each time, the soil could be rolled without crumbling then the ball could be squashed. One of our children even started modelling their soil into a shape so we determined that our soil is clay soil! We enjoyed our afternoon!
