Chinese New Year in Class One

Date: 31st Jan 2022 @ 5:44pm

What an amazing start to the week we have had in class one. We are celebrating Chinese New Year with various activities throughout the week, learning about the Chinese culture and the way the new year is celebrated.

Today we started off with a story called The Great Race. It explained how each year is named after a different animal and the order those years are.  This Chinese New Year is the year of the Tiger. We have sequences the story and acted it out and had lots of fun.

Some of us have enjoyed dressing up in traditional Chinese dress and we have practised our Chinese writing.

We particularly enjoyed learning about the dragon dances that take place in the parades to celebrate the new year. We made our own dragons and made them dance....we aim for a giver dragon by the end of the week!

Enjoy looking at the photographs from today.
